Sources and notes

Groundwater storage figures are annual volumetric-change estimates submitted by local Groundwater Sustainability Agencies to California DWR. Each selection covers the entire named subbasin, including portions outside Madera County; it is not a countywide total, a real-time or absolute storage volume, or an individual-well reading. Multiple annual-report areas are summed within each subbasin and year. Sources: California's Groundwater Live, DWR's SGMA reporting overview, and the GSP Annual Report dataset.

The trends row shows the full historical record for rainfall, snowpack, and temperature; the climatology row shows the current seasonal path for the same three metrics against a 1991–2020 reference. Groundwater storage change and drought remain in their own historical views. Rainfall and temperature trends use a fixed ERA5 series. Dotted trend lines describe the historical record; they are not projections. Climate sources: U.S. Drought Monitor, Open-Meteo, and USDA NRCS.
